2007: Berlin-Kreuzberg DE - Participation in the closing discussion round of "Kampf auf dem Parkdeck" July 22. An abandoned parking house in Zentrum Kreuzberg was appropriated by artist group Pony Pedro as a business site for the locals. 2006: Vienna AT - W H Y was invited to participate in "Mündig und Hörig", an October discussion during the 25th birthday of WUK in Vienna around the themes of autonomy and self-organisation. A questionairre also collected the opinions, experiences and strategies of various individuals and groups in Holland (and abroad) where the issue of autonomy plays an integral role. |

2005: Vienna AT - In the one month manifestation and exhibition in July 2005 in the Kunsthalle Exnergasse, freibesetzt explored in depth diverse concepts and strategies of "appropriation" through the presentation of physical spaces (free or occupied...?) in the Netherlands and Austria and the stories of their protagonists.
W H Y organized a series of public debates between Dutch and Austrian participants. |

2003: Rotterdam NL - Rotterdam is going to hell. What can we do about it? The first episode (uraufführung) of CIVIC TV was a one day event that presented various approaches to understand, use & criticise the urban environment and how these practices are sustained. CIVIC TV was a unique opportunity for those interested in alternative mental and spatial engineering to meet. |

In this series of evening programs the attic of the Poortgebouw, improvisation doesn’t only refer to the oft associated jazz derive rather the desire to create an unpredictable evening without a pre-defined program shaped by labels (goth-night, hiphop-night, movie-night) and codified expectations. |
